Introduction to the PaintChat DrawHints Palette
PaintChat has some interesting "DrawHints" that can be used in conjunction with the pen, pencil and brush drawing tools. These DrawHints help you to draw certain lines and objects more quickly. They are: Free, Line, BZ, BoxFill, Box, OvalFill and Oval.
! Differences: Some versions of PaintChat refer to the DrawHints as "Tools".
PaintChat Freestyle Line
Click on "Pen" in the Toolber palette. Now click on "DrawHints" in the main toolbox. The DrawHints palette appears on the screen. Click on "Free," which is a freehand drawing tool. Draw something squiggly and cool like I did.
PaintChat Straight Line Drawing Tool
Return to the DrawHints palette and click on "Line," which is a straight line drawing tool. Draw a couple of lines.
PaintChat Bezier Curve Drawing Tool
Now back to the DrawHints palette. Click on "Bz," which is a Bézier curve drawing tool used to model a smooth curve (a.k.a. "path" in programs like Adobe Illustrator). When you begin drawing, a control bar appears that allows you to manipulate the curve to construct linear, quadradic and cubic curves.
In practice, this tool is very buggy. I don't use it, but you can try it if you want.
PaintChat Filled Rectangles
Now return to the DrawHints palette and click on "BoxFill". This is the filled box or rectangle drawing tool. Try drawing some filled rectangles.
PaintChat Unfilled Rectangles
Now return to the DrawHints palette and click on "Box". This is the regular box or rectangle drawing tool. Try drawing some rectangles with borders and no fill.
PaintChat Filled Ovals
Now return to the DrawHints palette and click on "OvalFill". This is the filled oval or circle drawing tool. Try drawing some filled ovals.
PaintChat Unfilled Ovals
Now return to the DrawHints palette and click on "Oval". This is the regular oval or circle drawing tool. Try drawing some ovals with borders and no fill.
